Carlos Lerma is a born-and-raised award-winning Mexican writer/director from Monterrey, Mexico, currently based in New York City.


He is known for his award-winning live-action and animated short films, which have screened at more than 100 film festivals around the world including NFFTY and the Chicago International Film Festival. His work has also been programmed at the legendary Music Box Theatre in Chicago, Illinois, with three different films.

Carlos has been featured in MovieMaker Magazine, the Chicago Tribune, The Guardian, Film Threat, and on live television for his accomplishments in filmmaking.

 

He is also a TEDx speaker, where he advocates for international students and the power of creating opportunities through storytelling.

 

Starting off as a bedroom filmmaker at age 15, Carlos has built a multidisciplinary career across writing, directing, animation, editing, and producing. Since then, he has worked at NBC, Telemundo, The Criterion Collection, the Chicago International Film Festival, Buffalo 8, BondIt Media Capital, and Hiike Independent in areas including pre-production, production, post-production, marketing, experiences, and logistics.
